THE YOUNG WIZARDS

One hot summer day

It was the month of July

The grandchildren came to play

Carrying all their supplies

They all sat in each corner

With their smart phone at hand

I felt like a foreigner

Trying to grasp and understand

One was beeping from here

The other was tweeting from there

All the pleasing sounds I could hear

Was all new music to my ear

They would communicate with each other

Without saying a word

Once in a while they would smile

And again go back in their world

I tried to get their attention

But it was in vain

Mesmerized with this invention

Unjustly was my saying

So off to the market I went

To get macaroni and cheese

It was my regular trend

The only way we could please

As I was doing my shopping

The power went off

One very loud lightning

And everything went dark

When we tried to pay for our groceries

The registers didn’t work

All the young wizards

Didn’t know how to give us our change

They didn’t have enough fingers

To calculate all the figures

All that wizardry went up in flame

Oh, what pain, what a pain
